Τριὰς ὑπερούσιε καὶ ὑπέρθεε καὶ ὑπεράγαθε,
τῆς Χριστιανῶν ἔφορε θεοσοφίας…
Trinity, beyond-being and beyond-divine and beyond-good,
overseer of the Christian wisdom of God…
Hekhal is an open reference for the contemplative, mystical, and esoteric traditions of the world.
Enter the sanctuary →Targum תרגום ترجمة ἑρμηνεία
A purpose-built translation engine for the contemplative, mystical, and esoteric literatures. Frontier-model generation scaffolded over a controlled lexicon, school-and-period scoping, hermeneutic-frame controllers, multi-pass output, and a public audit trail.
What it does that a chatbot cannot.
Most of the esoteric corpus is functionally untranslated, locked behind paywalled academic editions or unrendered into English at all. Generic LLMs flatten the technical vocabulary, mistake the register, and silently drop the hermeneutic structure the tradition uses on itself.
Targum scopes each translation to its corpus and period, retrieves
the controlled vocabulary per passage, and runs the output
through a frame controller, zahir-batin for Akbarian
sources, kataphatic-apophatic for Christian apophatic,
pardes for Kabbalah. Every word choice carries a
queryable record. No auto-publish.
Editorial law
Canonical
Primary texts, traditional commentary, Hekhal's own codex entries on a corpus. Provenance always. Translator named. Original language hosted alongside.
Reception
Modern scholarship and philosophical bridge work. Scholem, Corbin, Idel, Faivre, Hanegraaff. Distinguished visually so synthesis is not confused with source.
Containment
Folk reception, modern occult orders, contemporary fringe, AI-generated grimoire material. Indexed and available, never authoritative.
the asymmetry rule -- Containment → may cite Canonical. Canonical ↛ never cites Containment.

Reading paths
Three curated routes through the library, each gathered around a single cross-tradition motif. Read in order or jump in anywhere.
The apophatic tradition
Negation as method. Pseudo-Dionysius through Eckhart through Ibn ʿArabī through the Kabbalistic Ein Sof.
The palace ascent
The visionary topos: ascent through halls and gates. Heikhalot, Merkavah, the Miʿraj literature, the Ladder of John Klimakos.
The divine names
The grammar of nameability. The Shem ha-Mephorash, the Asmāʾ al-Ḥusnā, the Dionysian list, the Hermetic onomastic chains.
Hekhal earns its reputation by combining three things no existing site combines: a curated cross-tradition primary-text library, a serious editorial framework, and a purpose-built translation engine with public audit trail. Build slowly, in passes, with the long-horizon goal of becoming the standard reference for cross-tradition esoteric study on the open internet.
